Booking engine

A hotel booking engine that sells rooms, packages and extras direct

Guests pick their dates, see every room and package priced for their party, add extras and pay online, in their own language. The booking lands in the same reservation list the front desk works from, and Hemmz takes no commission on it.

Available to founding properties

Built and available to founding properties. Booking pages are served on a Hemmz web address linked from your site; serving them on the hotel's own domain is in development.

01

Direct bookings without commission

The booking engine is part of the subscription. Hemmz takes no commission on a booking a guest makes on your own website, whatever the length or value of the stay.

02

The price on screen is the price charged

Every offer shows its nightly breakdown, taxes, what is included and the cancellation terms for that arrival date. The room is held while the guest pays, and the price is checked again before any money moves.

03

Guests look after their own booking

A guest can look up a stay with the booking reference and their email, change dates, pay a balance or cancel under the terms they accepted. The desk answers fewer emails about things the guest can do alone.

Search, rooms and packages

The guest chooses dates and the number of adults and children. The results list each room type with the packages on sale for that stay, priced for that party, with photographs and how many rooms are left.

  • Offers grouped by room type, with a tab for each package
  • Nightly breakdown, taxes and inclusions shown before the guest chooses
  • Deposit due today and balance due later, or the full price, as the rate plan sets
  • Promo codes, corporate or agency codes and loyalty member numbers at search
  • A waitlist when the dates are sold out, with a link emailed if a room opens
  • A booking page for a group block, at the rate agreed with the organiser

Extras and experiences

After choosing a room the guest reaches an extras step: small paid additions to the stay, each with its own price and tax, a date and a preferred time where the extra needs one. The step can always be skipped. Experiences with scheduled sessions can be added to a booking later, and anything already included in the guest's package is shown as included, not sold twice.

Online payment and card security

The guest pays a deposit or the full price, whichever the rate plan asks for. Card details go from the guest's browser straight to the payment provider. Hemmz servers never see the card number.

  • Deposit or pay in full, set per rate plan
  • Bank authentication handled in the payment step when the guest's bank asks for it
  • A balance left by a deposit can be paid online from the guest's booking page
  • Payment links the desk can send for an amount still owed
  • Confirmation by email with the booking reference and a link to manage the stay

Manage my booking

Every confirmation email carries a link to the guest's own booking page. The guest opens it with the reference and the email they booked with. Nothing is changed until the guest has seen what the change costs.

  • Change dates, with the stay priced again and the difference shown first
  • Cancel, with a preview of the penalty and refund under the booking's terms
  • Accept a room upgrade offered on a confirmed stay
  • Pay the outstanding balance before arrival
  • Book without an account, or sign in to see every stay in one place

Your brand, in five languages

The booking pages take the property's logo, colours and fonts, so they read as part of the hotel's own website. They work on a phone as well as a desktop. The engine speaks English, Spanish, Finnish, German and Arabic, with the right-to-left layout Arabic needs, and room and package descriptions can be written per language.

Step by step

One direct booking, from search to confirmation

  1. 01

A guest follows the Book button on the hotel's website and picks three nights for two adults.

  2. 02

The results show each free room type with its packages, the nightly prices, the taxes and the cancellation terms.

  3. 03

The guest chooses a package. The room is held and a countdown shows how long the hold lasts.

  4. 04

On the extras step the guest adds a sauna evening for the second night and continues.

  5. 05

The guest enters their details, accepts the booking terms and pays the deposit by card.

  6. 06

The confirmation arrives by email with a link to manage the booking, and the reservation appears on the front desk's list.

Questions

Questions hoteliers ask

Is the booking engine available now?

It is built and available to our founding properties, who bring it into use with us stage by stage. It is not a self-service product you can sign up for today. Ask for a demo and we will tell you plainly whether it fits a property like yours.

Does Hemmz charge commission on direct bookings?

No. Hemmz is paid by subscription and takes no commission on bookings. A stay booked on your own website is yours in full as far as Hemmz is concerned.

Does Hemmz store guests' card numbers?

No. Card details are entered in a form served by the payment provider and travel from the guest's browser to that provider. Hemmz servers never see the card number. Hemmz records that a payment was made, how much and for which booking.

Can the booking engine run on our own web address?

Today the booking pages are served on a Hemmz web address that your website links to, styled with your logo, colours and fonts. Serving them on the hotel's own domain is in development and is not yet offered.

Which languages can guests book in?

English, Spanish, Finnish, German and Arabic, including the right-to-left layout for Arabic. A property chooses which of these it publishes, and guests see the language their browser asks for or the one they pick.
